Take a look at the article here entitled, "How to connect your Pocket PC to a WIFI access point."  Be sure you've changed the connection settings from "Internet" to "Work."

I am trying to find out if I should buy a new 110 or by a nearly new 2790 PPC for running a piano tuning program. I do have an old 2790 but it is getting a bit old. Is there a substantial difference in these two. I do have a cradle and other related hardware for the 2790. I don't need a fingerprint reader so that is not an issue. Also I notice the 110's battery has less capacity but maybe the unit is more efficient. In the UK the price of the two (one used, one new) is about the same.
Any comments or suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I don't think WM6.0, which runs on the 110, is much different than WM5.0, which runs on the 2790.  The biggest improvement I noticed on the 110 was how much faster it responded when on the internet.  A quick comparison of the two:
      • The 110 has 64 MB of RAM; the hx2790b has 64 MB of RAM, but I think the hx2790 has less RAM
      • The 110 is b & g compatible for wireless LANs; the hx2790 is only b compatible for wireless LANs
      • The 110 can accommodate SDHC cards; the hx2790 does not support SDHC cards (although there is a hack that can be used to enable the hx2790 to recognize up to 4 GB of an  SDHC card
      • The 110 does not have an IR port; the hx2790 does
      • The 110 does not have a CF card slot; the hx2790 does
      • The 110 supports Bluetooth 2.0; the hx2790 supports Bluetooth 1.2
      • The 110 runs windows mobile office 6.1, which is compatible with Office 2007 files; the hx2790 runs the earlier version of mobile office and is not compatible with Office 2007 files
I don't really think the battery life between the two devices is equivalent.  Everything I've read about the newer IPAQs is that the battery life is not as good as with the older models.  I don't think this is necessarily a deal breaker since you'd probably be able to get an extended battery for the IPAQ 110.  If I were in your shoes, I'm not sure which device I would get.  I have used an hx2415 for several years (running windows mobile 2003), which feels much like the hx2790 and I prefer the feel of the hx2415 over the 110.

Thank you for the comprehensive reply. One thing that interests me about the 110 is the 4 pin stereo headphone jack which supports a microphone. This may me enable me to use a different mic when using the tuning program. Can you elaborate on this?

Rick, I really can't elaborate on the much on your question.  It seems the 110 is capable of supporting an external microphone, I've looked around for an adapter that might work and have not found anything that might work for your purposes.
