Q&A: How do I send attachments with emails?

Within Messaging

You can attach documents to new email messages:

  • Open up your messaging application,
  • Tap New > enter an email address or tap "To:" and select the person you wish to email from your Contacts listing.
  • Complete the Subject line
  • Insert attachment:
  • On a Windows Mobile 2003 device, tap Tools > Add Attachment; on a WM5.0 device, tap Menu > Insert > select Picture, Voice Note, or File (as desired)
  • Find the file you wish to send and tap it to include it as an attachment.
  • Tap Send and the message is sent with the attachment.

Through File Explorer

You can use the File Explorer application on your Pocket PC to navigate to the specific file you wish to send:

  • Open up File Explorer
  • Navigate to the file you wish to email
  • Press & hold your stylus on the file until a pop-up menu appears, choose "Send via E-mail"
  • Choose the email account you wish to use
  • Enter an email address or tap "To:" to select the person you wish to email from your Contacts listing.  Input a subject heading and any text in the appropriate areas.
  • Tap Send and the message is sent with the attachment.

From the File, itself

You can initiate a new email message from the Word or Excel (and some other applications may also allow you to do this) file you wish to attach.

  • Open the file you wish to send in its appropriate application.
  • On a Windows Mobile 2003 device, tap Tools > File > Send via E-mail; on a WM5.0 device, tap Menu > File > Send via E-mail.
  • Enter an email address or tap "To:" to select the person you wish to email from your Contacts listing.  Input a subject heading and any text in the appropriate areas.
  • Tap Send and the message is sent with the attachment.
